Ben Affleck finally decided to talk about his split from Jennifer Lopez, in an event that was "not as spectacular" as many would have assumed for two figures who are highly recognized worldwide for their work in the entertainment world.
However, the reason Affleck gave the interview to GQ magazine was for one purpose only: not to go over his past with JLo again.
PEOPLE magazine said a source told them that Ben wanted to make things clear and never touch on the subject again.
"Ben is fine. The GQ article was in some ways to clear things up for the last time," PEOPLE reported.
"He moved on," the source added. "He doesn't talk about JLo. He is not proud that his marriage did not work out. He didn't want to hurt her. But now he just wants to focus on his kids and work."
JLO and Affleck's separation "without scandal"
Affleck, 52, stated that "there is no scandal, nor any problem, nor any intrigue" in his separation from the pop diva, whom he was married to from July 2022 until she filed for divorce in August 2024.
The divorce was finalized in January 2025 and they officially became single on February 21, however, the same source said that the actor "remains very passionate about his work and excited about upcoming projects."
His next film as an actor, The Accountant 2, hits theaters on April 25, marking Affleck's first big-screen appearance since 2023, when he appeared in his own film Air, and then played Batman for the last time in The Flash.
Affleck said in the interview with GQ that his "life is pretty quiet" and that he has "a lot of respect" for JLo.
"I suppose there's a tendency to analyze breakups and want to identify the root causes or something like that," Affleck said. "But like I said, the reality is much more everyday than people probably think or find interesting."
Affleck is keeping quite busy with several film projects ahead as a producer, director, actor and screenwriter, including his upcoming film, "RIP," alongside his longtime friend Matt Damon.
On March 25, Deadline reported that "Kiss of the Spider Woman," a musical produced by Damon and Affleck and starring JLo herself, will premiere in the fall after its presentation at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.
