Warren G adding hip-hop flavor to National BBQ Festival in East Meadow

|

Warren G is set to prove he can regulate more than just hip-hop beats this June.

The legendary West Coast rapper is set to bring his culinary passion to the National BBQ Festival in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. The music icon will be doing double duty — performing on stage and competing in the pit.

The “Regulate” artist will headline the festival on Saturday, June 14, performing at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater. Warren G will then also step into the competitive BBQ arena for two days to showcase his grilling skills alongside some of the country’s top pitmasters.

The roots of his BBQ journey run deep. Inspired by his father, Warren Jr. – a former Navy boxer, black belt and chef – Warren G launched Sniffin’ Griffins BBQ in 2019.

The brand is a tribute to his family’s culinary legacy, with Warren developing handcrafted rubs and barbecue sauces.

“All my pops used to do was cook, create recipes, and play good music,” Warren G said, noting the personal connection behind his culinary venture.

The National BBQ Festival, to be held June 13-15, is expected to draw tens of thousands of attendees from across the country. The event is back after a 14-year hiatus; the last National BBQ was in Georgia in 2011.

This year’s festival in East Meadow will boast a $100,000 prize purse, one of the largest in the country and the biggest in the Northeast, organizers said.

The festival will feature two full days of BBQ competitions, with categories including steak, wings, brisket, ribs and whole hog.

Attendees can enjoy top-tier BBQ, with plenty of samples, live music, culinary demos, a wine and beer garden, and interactive family attractions.
